System
Resources
|
|
|
System resources are shared
by every component in a computer. The most important resources are used by the
modem,
network adapter and video card, but includes
the motherboard, memory,
expansion devices,

|
plug-in devices and peripherals. Conflicts occur when a computer has more devices
than it has resources for or the hardware is configured improperly. PnP (Plug-and-play) and
USB (Universal
Serial Bus) devices are helping to eliminate these problems. Plug-and-Play (PnP) is a standard
in the modern computer giving users the ability to plug a device into a computer and have
the computer recognize that the device is there. Resources on the device do not need to be
defined by the user. The setup for plug-and-play devices is usually preformed by a
software program that accompanies it. To benefit from the advantages of plug-and-play user
must have an operating system that supports it such as Microsoft Windows 95 or
later.
