Q: The system clock has started losing time.  Each time I turn the system on, it has lost time since I last shut it down, although it appears to keeping time OK while I have it on.

A: If the time lapse is more noticeable after the system has been off, it is simply a battery. Some batteries are built into the circuitry and can not be replaced. They are charged when the system is on.  Most batteries on modern computers use a 3V battery, model number CR2032 which can easily be replaced.
