Q: Is the Windows 95 "Drive Space
3" a useful option to invoke? Are there any
reasons one should not compress their hard drive?
A: The advantage to Drive Space or any drive compression
utility is that you can increase your hard drive space
for programs and files. However, there are two
major disadvantages to doing this:
- Compression slows down your hard drive, therefore
a computer system drastically.
- There's a distinct risk that you could one day
lose everything on your hard drive.
Compression utilities use hidden files to keep track
on how the hard drive is configured. It would
be disastrous If anything should ever happen to
these files.
