Networking

Ethernet, peer-to-peer, dial-up, VPN, domain servers and other related questions.

Q: I am unable to browse the network when I double click on Network Neighborhood.

A: There may be one of several problems why you are not able to browse the network.

  1. At times other workstations may not be visible in you workgroup, but are still connected. A quick way to find out is to go to FIND, select FIND COMPUTER then type in the name of the computer you are looking for.

  2. Check to see if you have good cable connections.  If you are using BNC, check the "T" connector and terminators.  For twisted pair, use a hub to connect to other PC's  or use a "Cross Cable" type of connection. (computer to computer connection)

  3. Check to make sure you have the proper protocols & services (Client for Microsoft Networks) installed.
